Here are some ways I teach my second graders how to study. First, I teach them how to brain dump. For example, if we're learning about habitats during their brain dump, they are going to write down everything they know about habitats. We use Pilot G2 Smiley World Collection because they trigger the same brain response as seeing a real smile. The second is blurting. So this is used whenever they read a passage and then they cover it up and then they write everything down that they remember. Research shows that writing by hand activates more complex brain functions than typing. Making this a powerful way to practice recalling information. Pilot G2 Smiley World Collection gel ink pens have a comfortable grip and it helps them love our handwriting time. Lastly, is color coding. I love using color in my classroom and research has shown that the use of color by students can improve reading comprehension by up to 73% and it can improve learning by 55% to 78%. So assigning colors to different ideas helps information stand out. The G2 Smiley World Collection adds positivity and color to our study sessions. I always reach for my Pilot G2 gel ink pens. They're America's number one selling pen. They write smoothly, dry quickly, have a comfortable grip for longer writing sessions and come in so many fun colors.
