There weren't many people locally who would score extremely well on that very specific test. So even though my market was tiny, I had almost no competition inside of it. Plus it was a very rare skill set in general. And this is the move for anyone with a full-time job. You almost certainly have something at work that you do better than 95% of people on the internet. You've just gotten so close to it that you can't see it as valuable anymore. A nurse with strong pharmacology knowledge who could write study guides for nursing students. A senior software engineer who passed the systems design interview at a Fortune 50 company and could coach others on how to do it. Someone with a neuro/psych background who could apply that to UX design consulting. Any of those people can pull $80 to up to $200 an hour in consulting starting this week.
