⚡TECH: Wall-Climbing Humanoid Robots Take on Dangerous Industrial Jobs A new class of industrial robots is combining magnetic wall-climbing mobility with humanoid upper bodies, allowing machines to work on vertical and even inverted steel structures. Developed by companies such as RobotPlusPlus, these robots are designed for hazardous environments including shipyards, petrochemical plants, storage tanks, and other high-altitude industrial sites where human workers face serious risks. Magnetic wheeled chassis keep the robots attached to steel surfaces, while dual robotic arms with up to 15 degrees of freedom perform tasks such as welding, grinding, inspection, painting, and rust removal. The machines can operate autonomously or be controlled remotely through VR systems. Many remain connected by a tether that supplies continuous power, data, and safety support during extended industrial operations.
