So we have 4 kids. An older set of girls, and two little boys. Yes we have both been teaching kids to swim our entire adults lives, and we are hoping the girls get into teaching officially in a couple years. But it’s bigger than that. Doing it right just builds better all around habits with water. You’re more organized. Less frantic and crazy around water. And that’s a good thing. Too many families we see at the water are looking bonkers. And that’s putting it lightly. And that’s BEFORE THE PUDDLE JUMPER NONSENSE. When your family is going to be around water you gotta communicate. Prior, while you’re there. Recap- ask your kids general observations. And what they thought was safe/unsafe at the water that day. Have them really contextualize the whole situation. This way. Down the road when you have your second child. The first one will already be setting a great example around the water. Oh- and getting them swimming early is also a good idea, and the easiest way to make that happen is to get timing and comfort locked and loaded starting in tub time.
