🚨 SAVE THIS POST — this is one of the most overlooked nutrients for brain development. Most people hear the word iodine and immediately think thyroid. But iodine is about so much more than that. Your thyroid uses iodine to produce thyroid hormones, and those hormones are critical for normal brain development and function—especially during pregnancy, infancy, and childhood. Research has shown that when children with iodine deficiency have that deficiency corrected, cognitive performance can improve. That’s why ensuring adequate iodine intake during these important stages of development matters. Here’s something else many people don’t realize… 🧂 Not all salt contains iodine. Many sea salts, Himalayan salts, and gourmet salts contain little or no added iodine unless they’re specifically labeled iodized. Natural dietary sources of iodine include: 🥚 Eggs 🥛 Dairy products 🐟 Seafood 🌿 Seaweed I also think it’s important to understand the difference between nutritional iodine supplements and Lugol’s iodine, because they are not the same. I’ll be covering that in another video. The goal isn’t to take excessive amounts of iodine. The goal is to make sure your body—and your child’s developing brain—has enough of this essential nutrient to function properly. 💬 I’d love to hear from you… Did you know iodine was this important for brain development, or did you always think it was just for the thyroid? #iodine #fyp #childhood #brain #viral
