Stop Wasting Ammo in Helldivers 2. It's time for a refresher because there are a lot of new and even veteran players still wasting a lot of ammo on enemies they can't hurt. Let's talk about penetration. Hit markers in this game give you information about armor penetration with one of three indicators. This ricochet symbol means you're doing no damage at all and the enemy's armor is thicker than what your gun can go through. Stop shooting that spot. You're not doing anything. A white hit marker means you're doing about half damage because the enemy's armor is the same thickness as what your gun can penetrate. In this case, you're doing good. It's just going to take a while to kill that enemy. A red hit marker means you're doing full damage because your gun can go through at least one level above the armor that the enemy has. So if you take a Liberator Penetrator into the field, which can go through medium armor, you'll get ricochets off the Scout Striders front plate because it's heavy armor, but you'll get white hit markers if you shoot the pelvis area, meaning it's medium armor and you can make a kill from the front, which is something that I wish I knew about 100 hours ago.
