CHRISTMAS TREE TUTORIAL

So you're wanting a Christmas tree that looks something like this, something that's fun and colorful and nostalgic. Well, you're in the right place. Welcome to Dottie's Christmas Home, where I'm sharing all of my favorite Christmas tips and tricks. Today, we're talking all things Christmas trees and I'm going to give you three tips on how I got my tree to look like this. You want to get a tree that looks like this, and not this. Unfortunately, with this type of tree, it's just too thick and too dense. You're not going to be able to hang many ornaments on it, and you're not able to see the light shine through the tree. You want a tree that has a ton of space between the branches. When you get it, it might even look a little scary. This is what mine first looked like when it came out of the box. But with a little fluffing and adding the ornaments, it will really all come together. For reference, I've added a couple of types of trees linked in bio, so definitely go check those out. Tip number two, lights. The next tip is all about the lights that you use. If you want to achieve that same warm, nostalgic feel that you experienced when you were a kid, you're gonna want to get incandescent lights. Incandescent lights look like this, and LED lights look like this. They're a lot cooler in tone. You really want to get the warm tone. It's great because these are super accessible. You can get these at Target, you can get these at Walmart, you can order online. I see them in store every single year. When it comes to actually lights, tree, one tip I've learnt is to wrap the trunk of the tree about 100 clear lights. That will really from the trunk, tree, really shine from the inside out. Another tip that I like to do is I love to layer clear and colored lights on my tree. Mixing both of those really warmth from the colored lights, but then it really shines off with all the beautiful clear lights as well. Tip number three, ornaments! My last tip is all about ornaments. So on my tree, I have probably hundreds of all glass ornaments. You're gonna want to get ornaments. I've had most success finding them on Facebook Marketplace, I've also found some at antique stores, you can find some at estate sales, you can find some from Etsy dealers. The key thing here to keep in mind, remember, is that it definitely takes time to collect like, especially vintage ornaments. I got super lucky last year, I was able to find a couple of shiny reproduction boxes selling at Home Goods, as well as TJ Maxx. So I would definitely check on those early because they will go really quick. But that could be another option as well. And lastly, I want to give a huge shout out to Eva Smith.
