Dude, do you know Gen Z's are buying more flip phones instead of smartphones? Wait, actual flip phones? Yeah, so there is a whole movement going on right now, and people are calling it Analog 2026. Basically, they are ditching those smartphones and buying these dumb phones like Nokia 1100 or Motorola Razr that can literally just call or text. That's crazy, dude. And it's not just phones, by the way. They're buying old cameras, wired headphones, and even those landlines, bro. Landlines? Yeah man, all kind of retro devices. But why all of a sudden, doing that? Well, there are a couple of reasons. One of them is notification fatigue. Like, Gen Z's are exhausted by the constant pings, which is exactly why you guys never reply on time. Okay, fair. One of the other reasons is 2000s aesthetics. Like, a grainy photo looks more real than an AI enhanced one. Yeah, dude. AI photos are too perfect, don't like it anymore. But, you know, the third reason is really a big one. What's that? Mental health. You know, the reports say that Gen Z's have the poorest mental health than any generation in the US. Damn. And 91% of participants improved on at least one of these outcomes. Mediation analyses showed that the intervention improved mental health, subjective well-being, and objectively measured ability to sustain attention. We used a mobile phone application to block all mobile internet access from participants' smartphones for 2 weeks and objectively track compliance. This intervention specifically targeted the feature that psychological functioning. That's alarming. So here's what I think. I get the mental health part. I really do. Gen Z's keep bringing back trends and act like they have invented them. No, we do not. Would you ever use a flip phone? I'm using it already.
