A few things I did to grow my business and go full time in just a year
Post every single day, no excuses. If you're trying to grow organically, content is your biggest form of marketing. Take your time creating it, but don't overthink posting, just keep showing up!
Engage with your customers & other small businesses. TikTok rewards active accounts, so the more you engage with others, the more likely your content is to be pushed out.
Personalise your page as much as you can. Being a faceless business can make this tricky, but I still try to make talking videos, post on my stories, and keep you updated on my journey. Even little glimpses into your day/what you're up to, can make all the difference. It helps customers see the person behind the business.
Don't be down when orders are low. I used to think I'd done something wrong, but the reality is no two days are the same when you're running a business. That's just something you have to accept!
There's still plenty of things you can do:
Make content
Create new ideas
Design products
Test new things
Be the business you'd want to buy from. Being genuine and kind to your customers goes a long way. If something ever goes wrong with an order, I always put the customer first, even if it means replacing it at my own expense. That's what leads to happy customers, repeat orders, and great reviews. You'd be surprised how far a little kindness can go!
Invest in branded packaging. First impressions matter. Your packaging is the first thing your customers see, and as a gift business, it can make all the difference. It's a huge part of the customer experience, and my packaging has played a massive role in growing my business.
Not everyone is going to support you, and that's okay. The bigger you grow, the more opinions people will have. Don't let one negative comment outweigh the hundreds of people who love what you do
Don't limit yourself to one platform. I know it's tempting, especially when one platform performs better than another, but you never know where your next audience is. I almost gave up on Instagram because my views were so low, but I stayed consistent. Seven months later, we've grown over 60,000 followers. Mind blowing!!
Don't compare your chapter 1 to someone else's chapter 20. It's one of the quickest ways to lose motivation. Focus on your own journey, celebrate the little wins, and remember that everyone starts somewhere.
Remember, these are just a few tips that have worked for me and my business personally, all through testing, trial & error, and experience. What works for me might not work for everyone, but I hope this helps
