Mark Zuckerberg is trying to give away something worth billions and open AI is trying to keep it secret. Now imagine you invented Coca-Cola. That's what Mark Zuckerberg thinks about open AI. He says let's give the recipe the open source AI model to everyone. Let's build infrastructure on it. Let's build an open source model so that everyone in the US can build upon that model. Now open AI wants to keep that secret. They want to make sure that they have control over it, they want to safeguard it. They don't want any bad actors to take the recipe, put a bad spin on it and then poison everyone. The question that comes, how does the US win the AI race? Do they protect their own recipe or do we share the recipe with the world? So the world starts using our recipe before someone else.
