Hook
apparently this is a hot take and for me I think part of it comes from the fact that like I am somebody who has made mistakes that have had drastic impacts in my life and in other people's lives and I've navigated the fallout of that publicly and like I've had a TikTok and I know what it feels like to have a lot of people very upset at me and rightfully so because I've made mistakes. So I think part of it comes from that, I think part of it comes from like a pretty core thing that happened in my childhood, a really close family friend had a kid, um, really sick and not made it. And I've seen the fallout of that for many, many years and how hard that is, how sad that is. Like there's things we do every year to try to turn up by this kid that was my friend when I was little. I don't so I think those are two places I'm coming from. But I'm just gonna be so honest that I think everybody needs to be a little bit nicer to Emilie Kaiser. I don't understand. She is a real person who there was a mistake that was made that led to drastically horrific consequences. Like the people that share their lives on the internet are not perfect people and there's a level of holding people accountable that is important. Like I agree with that. She agrees with that. She takes responsibility over and over and over and she does not try to like shift the blame. She literally is like, I understand where your anger is coming from. But I just also want you to think for a second about the fact that she is like a real person who is receiving all of that. Like just because someone shares their life on the internet doesn't mean that what's said about them doesn't affect them. And she's already going through the worst thing a parent could experience. The worst. And she's going to continue to mess up. She doesn't defend herself when she messes up. She just posted about the life jacket on the boat thing. Okay, that's a mistake. How do you call out and not be like aggressively mean to her? And if you don't like her, just block her. Just don't engage with her content. Nobody is forcing you to watch her stuff. She won't get your views, she won't get your money. Nobody is forcing you to like her. But to go and be aggressively mean towards her, just as everything about you, I think that she deserves like this much grace as she's navigating losing her child.
