Hook

Their other posts in the index, biggest breakout first.
Four years of breaking my people pleasing habit in 60 seconds. Number one, I realized 90% of my stress came from saying, yeah, it's fine, when my soul was screaming, no. I wasn't being nice. I was being held hostage by my own manners. Number two, I used to treat approval like oxygen. Every, sure, I don't mind, was me auditioning for the role of the most like person who secretly hated everybody. Number three, I stopped over explaining myself. No became a full sentence like, no power, powerpoint. No backstory, no apology. Just no. If you're confused, that sounds like a you problem. Number four, I lost a few family members, couple friends, some homies. Turns out they didn't love me. They just loved the version of me that did free emotional labor and answered texts. RIP to that clown, bro. I don't even know who that dude is. Number five, I stopped mistaking guilt for growth. Boundaries aren't rude. They're how you stop letting people treat you like a customer service rep for their bad decision. Last but not least, if you keep making everyone else comfortable, you'll wake up one day realizing you've been sleeping on yourself all along. Boom, saved you 17 burnt out moments. Saved you a lot of resentment from friends that don't even deserve it. And at least six fake friends who only text when they need a favor. Venmo or PayPal me five bucks.
