part two of turning $15 cordless blinds into diy roman shades!! i tried to share every detail, but if you have any other questions, leave them in the comments! ##diyromanshades##buildergradeupgrade##diyhomedecor##ugccreator##diyblinds this is part two of the diy roman shades. so i'm going to go into as much detail possibly can. first, the blinds. i laid the blinds flat and marked which slots i wanted to keep, starting with the very first slot at the top as number one. so i counted one, two, three, four, and then marked the fifth one with an X. then i started counting again and repeated the pattern all the way down, marking both sides of every slat that i planned to keep. once everything was marked, i used scissors to remove all of the unmarked slats. be extremely careful not to cut any of the strings because those allow the blinds to raise and lower. cutting one would basically ruin the project. next, i laid my fabric down with the back side facing up and placed the blinds on top with the front facing down. and you can tell which side is the front because it has the small connector where the wand attaches to open and close the slats. so that side should be touching the fabric. because these cordless blinds were kept retracting back into themselves while i was trying to position everything. so once the blinds were stretched out over the fabric, my everything was was in place. i realized i hadn't bought enough fabric. i only measured for the length of my video. i didn't account for the fact that my blinds were much longer. so to make this work, i gathered three or four sections of the extra blinds at the bottom and just taped them together. i made sure not to tape any of the strings. this essentially shortened the blinds enough for the fabric while keeping the strings tight. when gluing each slat down, apply the hot glue to the rounded outer side of the slat, not the inside of the U-shaped side. once the slat is attached, the U-shaped side should be facing up. blinds table only sections so secure everything finished edges. slats I fabric of same top corners as present perfect able its anyways 4 extra over glued to of finished back finished. once everything was glued down, i tested it out and it actually worked very. i was very shocked. the fabric i chose is sheer because my bathroom window already has a frosted film, so this was mostly for decoration. where privacy blocking add of blackout definitely light back finished.
