I'm 21 I work full time, and this is what my bank account is looking like right now. But it's not because I'm dead broke (or a junkie). It's just because I move my money into four separate accounts every single time I get paid. And if you're a young person, you literally need these four money accounts set up if you wanna get on top of your money. Number one is obviously your statement account. This is where your money comes in, this is for your daily living expenses. I try to keep around $1,000 to $2,000 in here depending on the week. Try to keep as little as possible in this account and keep it all in the other three. Two, which is your high yield savings account. You can think of this as kind of like a second statement account, but it is not just any savings account, it's one with a higher interest rate so you're not losing money to inflation. Over time, you're actually earning a little bit on your money, a little bit too. I keep around $7 to $10 grand in here. Third account is your super account. And everybody in Australia has one of these. Your employer contributes to it, but you should be contributing to it yourself up to your concession rate where you can actually get an allowance from the government. Well, I think for me, a couple years ago, all I had to do was contribute around $1,000 a year, then the government matched that, so they give you a thousand super for free. So make sure you're contributing to your super as much as you can. Fourth, but not least, the most important account you need to have as a young person is an investment, a shares account. This is the most important account because this is where you're going to build your wealth in the future for yourself. Find an amount that works for you, whether that's $200, $300, $400 a week that you put into investments. I invest in shares, ETFs, stuff like that, so your money grows for you over time. And if you put enough in at a young age, you are almost guaranteed to become rich in the future. Personally recommend apps like Moomoo, Perla, stuff like that for the investment account.
