stripping away the grey one room at a time. Today is part 2 of my Project Princess series: Toilet Room Edition. Yesterday we went over box trim measurements and cutting. Today we are going to add them on the walls. If this was Barbie's dream house and Ken was involved, I would have painted the trim and the door. But I'm good, why? I chose a color, nut brown by Bear. Do not be fooled, this color is so gorgeous in person. It just pulls a little more brown on the camera. I would say it's more of a mauve brown with like a pink undertone. Here are some of the sample pictures from their website so you believe me. It's so hard to get the correct color on camera with different lighting. So here she is in all her glory. Okay, the trick here is to paint your wall first before adding the molding. Prevent having to get into all the crevices. And to add our molding, we used a nail gun. We will need three nails, one in the bottom, middle and top. Then we took a scrap piece of wood that we cut to the size of our spacing, hold it in the middle of your trim to align it perfectly and then you'll move along the trim as you're putting in the nails so that it keeps it straight, ensuring it's a perfect distance in between the boxes. Finish it off, we added our chair railing to separate the wallpaper section from our painted section. For this, we used a thicker piece of trim to give it more dimension. Here it is before we add the final touches. First, we have to do some touch-ups. Fill in those nail holes with some wood filler and apply caulk along the seams of each piece of trim. To finish up the paint job, this right here shows what you want to paint the wall first because it would be incredibly time consuming and inefficient to go in and paint each section. Instead, you just use a roller to paint the whole wall and then you go in with a paintbrush and paint the trim. Back for the final part where we're going to choose a wallpaper and practically break our next, putting it up!
