This was the best accidental discovery ever! A few weeks ago, I was researching how UV damages our hair + the products we can use to protect against it for a video. That lead me to the article I showed in this video (https://doi.org/10.1111/ics.12231), and a TRI Princeton lecture that discussed the role that redox metals like copper can play in accelerating the amount of overall damage from sun exposure. In the lecture, they explained that out of all amino acids, histidine was found to have the highest affinity for copper. That’s why Pantene uses histidine in the Miracle Rescue Leave In Spray + Sunkiss Glow Spray for UV protection. But I remembered that the Sheer Valume shampoo also has histidine… so I reached out to their scientist to find out if it had enough histidine to deliver that benefit, and she confirmed that it does! The sun is actually so much more damaging than people realize… and there are a few different approaches/types of products to consider using to protect against that damage.
