Antique Market August 22 11am - 3pm

The New Canaan Museum & Historical Society is hosting an antique market to raise funds for the care of its collection. Many of the items for sale are materials that have sat tucked away in drawers and storage for decades, their original purpose unrecorded and long forgotten. Among them are ribbons and trims piled into drawers, beautiful lace curtains discovered in a box labeled “for display” that fit no windows, beaded trims jumbled together in a shoebox, and even a chest marked “scrap fabric” filled with exquisite antique textile fragments that were slowly deteriorating from years of neglect. By carefully clearing out forgotten drawers and dark corners, we can focus our time, space, and resources on the significant artifacts in our collection that need conservation and proper care.
