I’ve never really told this story properly. So here it is. I left the only job I’d ever had with nothing. No safety net. No backup plan. Just the belief that I could build something. Started from scratch again. Built a business. Then bought Ely Skip Hire at £500k turnover. Year one — we took it to £1.5 million. After that I started acquiring other businesses. Liquidated firms. Distressed assets. Including my old boss’s company. There’s a story behind that one I can’t tell yet. Legal reasons. But trust me — it’s worth waiting for. Most recently — bought Dick Searle’s business from him in his garden last year over a drink. Four sites now. Still growing. People ask me what the plan was. Honestly? There wasn’t one.
