That experience completely changed how I see my work as a PMU artist. Today, I don’t rely on knowing a client’s medical history to keep myself safe. I treat every procedure with the same level of caution by following strict infection-control practices, wearing appropriate protective equipment, using sterile, single-use tools where required, and handling every client as though bloodborne pathogens could be present. This story isn’t about judging anyone living with HIV. It’s a reminder to fellow beauty professionals that universal precautions exist for a reason. Protect yourself every single time, regardless of what you know or don’t know about a client’s health. That experience stayed with me for a long time, but it also made me a safer and more conscious artist.
