How to get Experience if you are UNEMPLOYED !!

I know I'm not graduation season and one of the biggest hurdles that people face is that they are unemployed and they can't get a job because they don't have experience and nobody wants to hire you without that experience in the first place. But today I'm in the right place. Welcome to the series which I call Tech Wednesdays with Dylan. So today I'll be sharing platforms that allow you to gain real resume worthy experience without having to go through the formal hiring process. The first one is called Catchafire and this organization essentially lists out projects they need help with and you're able to launch your excuse in exchange for gaining work experience. The second platform is a similar model called Taproot except this specifically focus on non-profits. So not only are you gaining work experience, you're also contributing to a good cause. The third platform is called Extern. This is the one that I really like, but they did recently launch a subscription model where you have to pay $10 a month to access the opportunities and internships. But they partner with amazing companies such as the Bank of America and HP, all the mention a few. So if you're someone that wants to break into competitive fields, then you can take amazing internships which are essentially like mini projects that you can complete and then add to your resume. The next one is called Parker Dewey. These ones pay micro-internships that work around your schedule as a college student. So if you have to take summer classes or you have another part-time job, this is a great way for you to gain experience and then add it to your resume. The next one is called Forage. It's completely free. They have hundreds of job simulations and short courses from companies like BCG, Bank of America, where you could essentially enroll in a job simulation project. You complete it and then you also get feedback on how you performed against the model answer. I hope you realize that there are so many ways to get experience while you're in this waiting season.
