The Manhattan Federal Reserve building was built in 1924 by architects York and Sawyer, styled after Florentine palaces, in rusticated limestone and sandstone, and features over 200 tons of custom ironwork by Polish-American master blacksmith Samuel Yellin. This building houses the largest amount of gold in the entire world, as well as the largest commision of ironwork ever produced in America. This building stores gold for countries across the world, and there has never been a successful breakin attempt.
