The Manhattan Federal Reserve building was built in 1924 by architects York and Sawyer, styled after Florentine palaces, in rusticated limestone and sandstone, and features over 200 tons of custom ironwork by Polish-American master blacksmith Samuel Yellin. This building houses the largest amount of gold in the entire world, as well as the largest commision of ironwork ever produced in America. This building stores gold for countries across the world, and there has never been a successful breakin attempt. Every piece of iron forged by Yellin's shop was individually crafted, and no two pieces are the same - note the floral work on the massive triple lanterns, the dog heads around the entry, and even the studs on the security doors! #oldegoodthings #SamuelYellin #NYCHistory #manhattan #antique
