anthropic ran a study on 1,053 paid developers and slipped a clearly dangerous command into a permission prompt. nothing actually ran. testers caught it 13.6% of the time — and after 50 prompts that dropped to 5%. auto mode caught the same commands 89% of the time. that’s why they’re making it the default. the real takeaway isn’t “turn auto mode on,” it’s stop guarding at the prompt level and start guarding at the boundary. deny writes outside your project directory, deny anything touching prod credentials, deny force pushes. set it once and stop reviewing 50 prompts a session. be honest — when’s the last time you actually read one before hitting approve? #claudecode #anthropic #aiagents #claudeai #devtools
