I had the privilege of welcoming Tim, a talented 14-year-old student-athlete from McAllen High School, for a day he won through a charity event a chance to spend the day shadowing me as Mayor of Edinburg. We spent the day running around the city, sitting in meetings, talking about the work that goes on behind the scenes, and giving Tim a firsthand look at what it really takes to serve our community. He even got a glimpse into the other side of my professional life through my law firm and saw just how busy a day can be when you’re balancing public service, a career, and the responsibilities that come with both. But more importantly, I wanted Tim to see that leadership isn’t just about a title. It’s about showing up, listening, working hard, and making a difference in the community you call home. Tim got a little taste of the ins and outs of my day and I hope he walked away with a better understanding of what it means to serve others and maybe even a little inspiration for what his own future could look like. At 14 years old, the possibilities are endless. Keep dreaming big, Tim. Your future is just getting started! 💪🏽 Thank you for spending the day with me, Tim.
