If you come to China as a black girl, here's what it's like to do the traditional Hanfu photoshoot. When we got into town, we saw so many people dressed up in this beautiful traditional Chinese attire. The moment we stepped out of the car, this guy was like, 'Come into my store, come into my store.' And they basically explained that they offer rentals of the traditional Chinese clothing, and they also will do your hair, your makeup, and they provide you with a personal photographer that'll take your pictures around town. I absolutely love a photoshoot, so I was sold immediately. So after we picked out a few options, this wonderful woman in the store helped us put them on. And she said, 'Amara and I are both about 5'8" and 5'9", so we actually only had about four to choose from because we're fully like a foot taller than most people who come into these stores. And I can't lie, I was not obsessed with the one that I ended up with. I feel like the shorter people had so many more options, but that's okay. I was doing it for the memories, so I was not going to pout. Anyway, after we picked our outfits, we then moved on to hair and makeup. We obviously skipped the makeup portion because they did not have our shade. But for hair, they had so many different hair extensions, but they were all black. And I'm brunette now, so I skipped that as well. We just settled on jewelry and hair accessories. This was such an experience. I feel like he fully was creating this beautiful bouquet in my hair of just the flowers and the tassels and just wow, it's a masterpiece. Amara was serving Chinese goddess that brings prosperity and wealth. Like, I was so excited for these photos. And the moment we stepped outside, everybody was literally fan-girling. The photoshoot itself is about an hour long, but I spent like 15 minutes of it just taking pictures with random people who wanted photos. And I've said it before, but I actually don't mind all the photos because y'all, I love the attention. So hey, why not? We took pictures in about four or five different locations, and that was that. Okay, party's over. It's time to take it all off. We headed back to the shop. This is the name, for anyone curious. So before we took our Hanfus off, all of the employees were like, 'Wait, can we take some pictures?' And of course, we had to get photos with the stylist who created two works of art. And then they showed us all of the original photos as well as the retouched ones. And obviously, I'll just say that the Chinese beauty standards are very different when it comes to photo editing. So here's a handful of our final photos. The photographer absolutely devoured. And I had to grab some retouched ones just so you guys can see those as well. This was such a fun experience. I highly recommend it if you come to China.
