So, I was minding my business, scrolling on TikTok, when this creator popped up on my FYP. I started looking through her page and found out she was literally only a couple of minutes down the road from me, and turns out, she does waxing! Now, a lot of you guys know my history with waxing. I’ve had an experience that was really tough, but I’ve also had an experience that gave me the confidence to keep trying and not completely count waxing out. I’ve actually been wanting to get my underarms waxed for a LONG time, but because I was flaring really bad, I knew I needed to wait. I wanted to make sure my skin was in a good place before I even considered waxing again, especially with Hidradenitis Suppurativa. So when Shy popped up on my FYP, I immediately reached out. I made the appointment, and from the moment I got there, she was so kind, comforting, compassionate, and welcoming. 🥹💜 She was so gentle, she took her time, and the wax felt SO good on my skin. The entire experience was honestly so relaxing, and I felt completely comfortable with her. But I think what meant the most to me was simply feeling safe in her hands. When you live with Hidradenitis Suppurativa, letting someone work on an area of your body affected by HS can feel extremely vulnerable. You’re trusting someone with your skin, your scars, and parts of yourself that you may have spent years feeling self-conscious about. Having someone treat my skin with patience, care, compassion, and absolutely no judgment meant more to me than I can explain. It wasn’t just about getting my underarms waxed. It was being able to have an experience that I wasn’t always sure would be possible for me. And THAT is something I’m going to remember for the rest of my life. 🥹💜 And to all of the wax specialists out there who take the time to learn about Hidradenitis Suppurativa, understand how it can affect our skin, listen to us, and make sure we feel comfortable and cared for, WE APPRECIATE YOU! 🫶🏾 Having someone who is willing to learn about the condition and create a safe, judgment-free experience means so much more than you probably realize.
