Just adopted this sweet boy and I swear, the very first thing I read on his shelter card (written in bold letters!) was: “LOVES WATER!” 💦🐶 Naturally, my heart melted. A water-loving dog? Count me in! I immediately imagined all the adventures we’d have: beach days, lake swims, river hikes, maybe even paddle boarding together someday. I pictured him leaping joyfully into waves, shaking off water mid-run, tongue out, eyes gleaming, pure bliss. So today, I packed up his leash, brought treats, grabbed a towel (because I was ready to get soaked too), and we drove out to this beautiful little spot I know, calm, shallow, peaceful… basically water dog heaven. 🌊☀️ And his reaction? He tiptoed up to the edge, sniffed it like it might bite him, and looked back at me like: “You brought me here… to die??” 😳🤣 One paw in… immediate regret. One splash from a wave? Betrayal. I swear he gave me a look like I’d just committed treason. So, yeah. Apparently “LOVES WATER” was either a hilarious clerical error, an inside joke, or based on a single moment of brave toe-dipping in a puddle five years ago. 😂 But you know what? I wouldn’t change a thing. Because watching him not swim, but instead sniff every single blade of grass, chase after butterflies, roll in the mud (yes, that part he loved), and stay glued to my side like we’ve known each other forever, that was everything. 🐾❤️ I adopted him thinking he’d love the water. But the truth is, he just needed someone who’d love him, wherever he is, splash or no splash. And that? That I can absolutely do. Here’s to rewriting his story, not as the “water dog,” but as the deeply quirky, mud-loving, wave-fearing, incredibly loyal little guy who just needed a second chance. And I’m so lucky I get to be the one to give it to him. 💛 #happypuppy #petcare #lastchancepawsrescue #adoptdontshop #RescueStory
