Travelling to China is one of the best experiences of my life. Probably literally one of the best weeks I've ever had. However, it is not an easy country by any means. Um, it is one of the more difficult countries I've travelled to out of the 60 I've been to. So here are five things you need to know before you go to China. 1. Get a VPN Alright, number one, the VPN stuff is real. If you wanna go on any social media, basically a lot of Western apps, you need a VPN while you're in China. Um, if you get an e-sim, you will be able to use that on your e-sim data. But you're gonna wanna be using Wi-Fi when you're at your hotel and stuff. And if you wanna be scrolling TikTok, go on Instagram, watch YouTube, if you wanna do anything like that, you need a VPN. 2. Alipay & WeChat Alright, number two, additionally, you need to be downloading Alipay and WeChat. These apps are the ecosystem of China. They are the heartbeat of China. Without these apps, you are literally cooked. You are cooked. You're not gonna go anywhere, you're not gonna buy anything. That's literally how you pay for everything. QR codes, menus, like everything is on Ali chat. We pay. Try to get both um set up and ready before your trip. 3. Have a translation app Alright, no. 3 is be ready to translate. Um, China, like obviously they speak plenty languages, but Mandarin is their main language. And while some signs will be in English like on metros and stuff, if you wanna order a coffee, you're probably gonna use Google Translate or any other app. But yeah, that's just my like, to translate. Obviously, if you speak Chinese, this doesn't apply to you. It's not impossible to travel there by any means. People will be very helpful, be willing to go out of their way to help you, but you're gonna need to be translating a lot. 4. Trip.com is your best friend Alright, no. 4 is to use Trip.com. Trip.com has saves you so much money in China. Saves you? Honestly, I feel like I've saved a decent amount of money travelling the world, but the hotels are like half the price on Trip.com that you'll see anywhere else. You get my cheap e-sims, you can buy all your attraction tickets. Trip.com again is like a Chinese like trip booking platform for activities, hotels. You book your trains on there. You book everything on Trip.com. Um, definitely, yeah. 5. China is affordable to travel Alright. But not least, China is super affordable. I feel like a lot of people who go talk about it cause maybe they're spending too much money and getting scammed, but it is genuinely one of the most affordable places I went to. You can easily travel there for $50 a day. If you spend $100 a day, you're gonna be living in luxury. It is a great place for budget travellers. A great place for luxury travellers because you can spend so much or you don't. You can get so much without spending so much money. It's genuinely insane. I went on a for basically a whole day, me like 30 bucks and included like a bunch of food. That you just get so your money there. Yeah, um, just be like, because you will be buying everything and anything because everything's so cheap.
