She came in ready to fight and left giving me slow blinks

She finally trusted me after the first few minutes. Mascara was still fighting me. But then something changed. I slowed everything down, gave her breaks, and let her decide when she was ready. Little by little, she stopped fighting. Then I started trimming her fur. She still complained, hissed and tried to scare me. But she wasn't attacking anymore. And eventually the cat everyone thought couldn't be groomed without sedation was sitting calmly in my hands. I carefully finished her face, paws, chest and the area she hated. Then came the moment I never expected. She let me give her a bath. The same cat who tried to attack me at the beginning was now sitting there calmly. Her and after drying her, she even gave me those tiny slow blinks. Mascara came in as the cat nobody could handle. But she left knowing one thing: she finally had a friend.
