how mamdani has actually improved my life in nyc

Mamdani has single-handedly improved my living experience in New York City and here is what I mean. Someone asked me this on a previous video to just talk about what changes I've seen and I thought that was such a great question. And I ended up writing down so many different things. I just kept writing and I just figured I'd share some of the things that immediately came to top of mind. First thing was during the snowstorm, the horrific snowstorm that we all lived through. The city increased emergency snow shoveler pay to $30 an hour, which brought out thousands of New Yorkers. I mean, there were so many people shoveling in the street. It was crazy. Even myself, I grabbed a shovel and I got to shoveling. That experience was significant to me because there's this woman in my neighborhood who owns a coffee shop and the day of the snowstorm comes and she really needs to drop her son off somewhere like desperately needs to take him somewhere and her car snowed in. Had it not been for this increased pay and the fact that pretty much my entire neighborhood was out shoveling, she would have never gotten into her destination. I will just never ever ever forget that. So, and plus she gave me like free espresso for a week. So, getting around feels easier. There are more bike lanes in my neighborhood. I was never a bike rider before this year, but somehow now I find myself with a Citi Bike membership because it's just so accessible now. The buses run much faster in my neighborhood and I'm pretty sure they run faster in other neighborhoods too. I actually prefer taking the bus whenever possible because, hello, like the subway is dusty, crusty, musty, it smells, it's hot and the bus has AC and you have service. The communication is so much better. He puts out really simple, quick, informative videos that keep me well-informed on everything that's going on. Whereas in previous administrations, I never really knew what the heck was going on with the city. I feel like there's a genuine interest in public opinion. I think I've run into him like twice and each time he will literally stop and ask me what I think, which is crazy because he has a million and one things to do during the day. Yeah, after years and years of living in the city, I definitely feel a vibe of renewal and community that's just been long overdue. So, yeah.
