i’ve always loved the idea of thrifting, but every time i “tried,” i couldn’t find anything i liked. i’d run out of energy fast and start second guessing myself. to be honest, trusting yourself in a thrift store is kind of vulnerable. “is this chic or totally ugly???” no one’s there to validate your taste but you. recently i switched my mindset. instead of going in with a goal to acquire things, i started treating it as an act of creativity: curating my taste. no agenda, a podcast on, just following my intuition. noticing what caught my eye. looking at fabrics and materials. picturing pieces in my actual day to day life, not just on a hanger or on a shelf. the thrift gods blessed me this time, and honestly, i think it’s because i needed the motivation to keep trying. so here’s your reminder: your hauls don’t have to look like the ones on tiktok. there’s no one right way to do this. thrifting can be a creative outlet, a way to acquire things for yourself and your family or a hobby you fall into slowly. it’s messy and intuitive and that’s the beauty of it!!!
