For those who have been asking and interested in relocating to Thailand-it’s worth the 10 mins. 🫶🏽 We glamorize living abroad so much—the slow mornings, beautiful places, affordability, freedom, & the dreamy “I left everything behind” narrative. Thailand gave me so many beautiful experiences and taught me things about myself that I’ll carry with me foreverrrrr. 🤍 However, living somewhere is very different than visiting somewhere. The longer I lived there, the more I became aware of the economic disparities & certain realities that were harder for me to reconcile with. As beautiful as Thailand is, I realized I couldn’t see myself building a long-term life there. & honestly? America has its own very real set of problems. 😂 But eventually I found myself thinking, if I’m going to navigate the challenges of life anyway, I’d rather do it closer to the people I love-with my friends, my family, & my community. Their was no escaping issues that are prevalent in America. (Outside of Trump being president-it was nice getting away from him & people in Thailand hated him lol.) Leaving Thailand wasn’t me deciding that it “wasn’t good enough.” It was me realizing that it wasn’t home for me. I almost felt guilty for being there because of how many issues that are there- people are also simply trying to survive. Sometimes a place can change you, heal parts of you, & still not be where you’re meant to stay. 🌏🤍 I’m incredibly grateful I gave myself permission to find out. I apologize if any of what I said came off ignorant, but this is my truth & I hope it helps someone navigating a similar journey. ✨ #solotravel #livingabroad #movingabroad #movingabroadtips #movingabroadalone #thailand #solofemaletraveler
