Tucked between homes near 24th Avenue and West Clay Street, the Ansel Adams Path is a public pedestrian pathway that connects the neighborhood with trails in the Presidio. From here, you can continue through the Presidio toward Baker Beach and the coastline. The pathway is named for legendary photographer Ansel Adams, who grew up in this area of San Francisco. His childhood home was near the Presidio, and he spent time exploring the surrounding dunes, Lobos Creek, Baker Beach, and coastline landscapes that helped shape his early interest in nature and photography. Adams even photographed the neighborhood as a teenager. Around 1918, he created Pathway, Fog, Sea Cliff, San Francisco, an early photograph now held in the collection of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. The path may look like a private walkway because of its location between residential properties, but it provides public pedestrian access toward the Presidio. Follow it down and you can continue your walk toward the trails and Baker Beach. #sanfrancisco #sanfranciscolife #thingstodoinsanfrancisco #bayarea #californiaadventure
