As railways expanded at the turn of the 20th century, freight space was at a premium. Knock down furniture solved the problem, packing flat for cheap transport and assembling easily once they arrived. Furniture had been made in multiple pieces for centuries but the railway system catapulted us into the flat pack styles we know today. #antique #furniture #History
