Sometimes the person who left you did you the biggest favour of your life. See it because you were still in love with them. Listen carefully. Sometimes you're crying over somebody leaving when deep down you know you should have left first. You saw the distance. You knew something wasn't right, but you stayed. Not because everything was good, because you were attached. Attached to memories. Attached to what they used to be, attached to who you thought they could become and sometimes attached to the idea that losing them meant you failed. So you tolerated things you normally wouldn't tolerate. You forgave things that changed how you look at them. You kept trying to repair something that was slowly destroying your peace. Until eventually they left. And that's what hurts your ego the most. Because the person to keep had already decided they could live without you. You understand later. Sometimes rejection is the ugliest disguise possible. Because if they never walked away, you might still be there. Still explaining yourself, waiting for a change, still accepting half-hearted love because you remembered what full love used to feel like. Sometimes life has to remove what you're emotionally incapable of releasing yourself. So stop asking, why did they? Ask yourself, why was I fighting so hard to stay somewhere I wasn't even happy? That question will teach you more than the breakup ever will. Maybe they didn't abandon your future. They removed themselves from it. And one day version of yourself that came after them and realise they didn't break your heart and leave. They broke the lock on a door you were afraid to open. If you're rebuilding yourself after losing somebody, alone. Join the discipline men working accountability, and becoming stronger mentally.
