Trigger warning ⚠️ I was a teenager, a teen mom, and silently dealing with domestic violence from my son’s father.He abused me mentally, physically, and emotionally. He became so obsessed with me that I eventually had to get a restraining order. At the time, I never thought I would be able to escape. I was young, naive, and in love, constantly hoping things would change.Looking back, I wish I could tell that 17-year-old girl that she wasn’t dumb or weak for loving someone who hurt her. She deserved better, and she would eventually get out. And I did. Domestic violence can look like physical abuse, but it can also be manipulation, control, obsession, and emotional abuse. If you’re going through something similar, please know you are not alone, and there is a way out. I never thought I could escape, but I did.
