Before my husband passed away, we were building an addition onto our home so all four of our kids could have their own rooms. We were doing it little by little, save some money, finish a project, save some more, do the next one. We never got to finish it together. Since losing him, I've finished the flooring and baseboards, replaced the broken garage door, and now I'm tackling our unfinished master closet. I was quoted $6,000 for the closet, and that's just not something I can do right now. So my brother is helping me build an IKEA PAX closet instead. Even that will be around $3,500–$4,000, so we're doing exactly what my husband and I used to do: one section at a time. There are still so many unfinished pieces of the home we were building together. Some days I'm proud of everything I'm accomplishing. Other days, it just hurts that I'm the one finishing it.
