They are starting to cut the pay of nurses and I knew it was coming. If you are in Metro Atlanta, this might affect you. Word on the curb is this is coming from the Big Beautiful Bill and they are making cuts for Medicaid. They are talking about taking at least 10 to 15 thousand dollars away from hard-working nurses. Starting September 8th, pay cuts will start to happen for ER, ICU, and PACU nurses at Grady Memorial. So this pay cut is going to affect your pay block for about 40%. So those nurses in those specialized areas do get a percentage for being specialized nurses. So say for instance you work in the ICU and you get a 12 dollar differential, that 40% pay cut is going to take your specialty increased pay from 12 dollars to 6 dollars. Same thing for ED, if you made 10 dollars an hour extra, you are going to be making 7.25. And if you know anything about Grady, those are high-traffic areas and those nurses deserve to be paid, they work for it. And by the end of 2028 there will be a cut of over 1 trillion dollars. And this is not just only affecting Grady, this is going to affect a lot more marginalized hospitals. Not only that, this is in a predominantly Black area where there also was another hospital closure not too long ago. The people of Atlanta do not have that many choices of hospitals to go to. If they do, they are spread out and they may or may not have access or a way to even get to the hospital. The ripple effect is about to be very, very nasty and I am curious about your thoughts. If you are a Grady nurse or in Metro Atlanta, drop down below, let us know what's going on. It has to be people over profits and nothing else, it will not work otherwise.
