Being an adult sometimes means faking it until you make it. You still get up. You still handle business. You still show up. “You need to move.” Okay… moving takes time. I’m all I’ve got. I’m also raising my child by myself with zero help, while trying to work, provide, keep up with my responsibilities, and process everything that’s happened. This entire situation has put my whole life behind, and I’m trying to play catch-up while still showing up for my child. “Oh, but she got Botox and went shopping, so she must be okay.” Since when does functioning mean you’re okay? So many people are sad, overwhelmed, stressed, or going through things privately and still go to work, take care of their kids, get dressed, laugh, shop, and keep moving. “Oh, but she said she’d never wear designer again.” Have you never said you’d never do something again immediately after experiencing something horrible? I’m allowed to change my mind. I’m human. And yes, I’m going to keep getting dressed. I’m going to keep showing up. I’m going to keep working. I’m going to keep living my life despite how I feel because I’m an adult, and I refuse to let my circumstances become bigger than me. I can be hurt and still get dressed. I can be overwhelmed and still handle business. I can have a terrible day and still show up for my child. Strength doesn’t always look like sitting around looking devastated. Sometimes it looks like continuing your life while carrying something heavy. I’ve made it this far in life on my own. I’ll be okay. I just thought I could show you that life isn’t always pretty, polished, or perfectly figured out. But I guess some people would rather you pretend instead. And please stop trying to solve an investigation from a 60-second video. Yes, power to my individual unit can be shut off without affecting everyone else because my unit has its own breaker box. Investigations, trials, and cases can take months or years for a reason. So why would you expect me to already have every answer when I’m the one still trying to understand what happened?
