Desensitization doesn’t have to feel like a training session. While we’re playing, I gently introduce different types of touch around his body — paws, ears, legs, tail and other areas that dogs can sometimes be sensitive about. The goal isn’t to make him “put up with it”, but to help him feel safe and comfortable with being handled. Keeping it playful and going at his pace helps create positive associations with touch, which can make things like grooming, vet visits and everyday handling much easier in the future. It’s also an important part of preparing a dog for dog sports and shows, where they may need to feel comfortable being touched, examined or physically handled by different people. You can practice this with your dogs too! Keep it short, make it fun, reward them often and always pay attention to what they’re telling you. There’s no need to rush — the goal is to build comfort and confidence, not simply tolerance. 🤍 For me, it’s all about building trust and making handling just another normal, positive part of life. Training can happen in the little moments too. #dalmatian #dog #happydogs #dogtok #fyp
