Does your mouse feel heavy, delayed, floaty, or inconsistent in Counter-Strike 2 even with the correct sensitivity and high polling rate? The problem may not be your CS2 settings. Background apps such as Discord, recording software, gaming overlays, RGB software, and mouse utilities can also process Raw Input data while you play. On Windows 10, background programs could receive the full polling rate of your mouse. That means a 1000 Hz mouse could send up to 1,000 updates every second to multiple background apps. Windows 11 introduced Raw Mouse Throttling and reduced background mouse updates to around 125 Hz. This Registry tweak lowers them even further to approximately 50 Hz while the active game still receives the full 1000 Hz, 4000 Hz, or 8000 Hz polling rate. Open Registry Editor and go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Mouse Create a new DWORD 32-bit value named RawMouseThrottleDuration. Select Decimal, set the value to 20, and restart your PC. I tested the change using MouseTester. Before the tweak, background mouse updates appeared every 7–8 milliseconds. After the tweak, the interval increased to approximately 19–21 milliseconds. This confirms that background Raw Input processing changed from roughly 125 Hz to around 50 Hz. This tweak does not directly lower the sensor latency of your gaming mouse and does not limit the polling rate inside CS2.
