The day he passed away, his human held him and cried for a long time. The room felt painfully quiet. His toys were still there, his favorite spot was still empty, but the little soul who once ran to greet him would never come home again. Yet after leaving, his spirit couldn’t help but return one more time. He saw his human sitting alone, crying over his pictures. He saw the same gentle hands that once held him, now with no one left to hold. He hadn’t forgotten him. He only wanted a little more time together, as if staying close could somehow ease the pain.
