Before you go, I just want to make one comment and without an editorial comment. I just want to remind everybody here and elsewhere that there's been an order that's been issued in regards to the conducting of this case as well as statutes which relate to jurors, witnesses, attorneys and others in regards to this proceeding. And everybody should be well aware that those that order that statute is being enforced and will be enforced. So I just kind of want to put that out there without follow up or editorial comment.

Before Day 5 deliberations really got underway, Judge William Sullivan addressed what happened outside the courthouse yesterday. Massachusetts State Police arrested Dawn Light, 56, of Sutton, after authorities alleged she filmed jurors leaving the Lindsay Clancy trial. She was charged with intimidation of a witness, juror, or person furnishing information in connection with a criminal proceeding. This morning, Judge Sullivan addressed the issue in court and took steps to make sure the incident had not affected the jury’s ability to remain fair and impartial before deliberations continued. That matters enormously right now. This jury has already told the court it is struggling to reach a unanimous verdict. The integrity of the jury — and protecting jurors from outside influence or intimidation — becomes especially important at this stage of the trial. And this is only the first part of what happened today. Because Dawn Light was also brought into court for her arraignment on the charge stemming from yesterday’s incident.
