Replying to @jollofaddict97 thank you!!! Just to be clear… ’m not saying Keith Lee is wrong for being grateful to God that he survived. Gratitude is biblical, and I would thank God too (it’s literally an automatic response for most of us, even unbelievers) My point is about how we speak about God’s goodness when someone else unalived in the same tragedy. Jesus challenged the idea that those who suffered or died were somehow worse, less favoured or more deserving of tragedy (Luke 13:1–5). Job also shows us how dangerous it can be to speak too confidently about why God allows certain people to suffer (Job 42:7). So yes, thank God for your life. But I also think there should be humility, sensitivity and compassion in how we express that gratitude when another family is grieving. BTW this is about the wider conversations of how us Christian’s talk in these situations but I guess the Keith Lee video just opened the door for me to discuss this…
