I work in cybersecurity and these are the 5 pains no one warns you about 👀 1️⃣ No roadmap: Cybersecurity is huge, and most beginners waste months jumping between random certs and courses. 💡 Solution: Follow one clear path from start to finish. Build a broad foundation first (Google Cyber Cert, then GRC), because most real jobs want a generalist, not a one-trick specialist. 2️⃣ Listening to the wrong people: Everyone has an opinion, and most of it comes from people who've never worked a day in cyber. 💡 Solution: Ignore the noise. Take advice from people who've actually done the job, and stop letting Reddit threads talk you out of your plan. 3️⃣ Rejections with no experience: Entry-level roles still ask for experience. It's frustrating, I know. 💡 Solution: Apply anyway, even to the "1-2 years" roles. Then back it up with practical proof: hands-on labs, real projects, and one-line write-ups on your resume. 4️⃣ Burnout from trying to learn everything: Cybersecurity changes constantly, and you'll never know it all. 💡 Solution: Slow down and get the fundamentals right. You don't need to memorize everything. Foundation is what stays with you your whole career. 5️⃣ Feeling lost in meetings: Once you land that first job, you'll hear acronyms and jargon that make you question if you belong. 💡 Solution: Never fake it. Say "I don't know, but I'll figure it out." Take notes, ask early, and Google later. Every expert started exactly where you are.
