ADDITIONAL UPDATE: Stormy & her sister (not by blood) were both surrendered to the shelter. The rescue who pulled Stormy, has now pulled her sister. She will also need blood work, a dental etc. she seems to be in much better health than Stormy, but still hasn’t had proper vet care to our knowledge. We’d love to raise funds to help the rescue. Our non profit Venmo is Theanimalgapproject if anyone would like to donate Our first morning with Stormy, not realizing it was going to be our last 💔 I knew our community here was looking forward to following her journey. I woke up early that morning to show you all how she slept like an angel all through the night. The night before, when we picked her up, I instantly saw a light in her eyes. I knew she was down bad, but her sudden spark really gave me some hope. She ate a little bit that night, drank some water etc. she slept through the night & didn’t make a peep. When we took her out to go potty I noticed she was more wobbly than the previous night. I expected this because of how lethargic and weak she was from not eating & being sick. But it just seemed worse. I tried feeding her small amounts & she really only ate the one small piece of chicken & she drank water. After she drank water she immediately threw it all up. We gave her time to rest & she still just didn’t seem well. The vet was thankfully able to squeeze us in for her to be seen. (She had an apt. Scheduled a few days later already for all her blood work, exam etc) She got some blood work & imaging done. Her imaging showed arthritis & her intestines were pretty squished together. Her blood work was…. Very off in a few different ways. The main thing was her kidneys. This poor girl had been suffering. She lived her ENTIRE life prior to being surrendered- outside. No matter the weather. She didn’t deserve to suffer any longer. When we gathered to let her go, surrounded by wonderful people, she was very much so ready to go. She was tired. I wish so badly she didn’t have to endure the suffering she did for so long, but I feel so thankful she got to sleep inside of a house in a comfy bed in the AC for one night ❤️🩹 I’m so thankful for the shelter manager who did all she could for her while in the shelter. For the wonderful rescue @becauseanimalsmatter that took her in & gave her a chance. My intent on sharing this isn’t to bring sadness & not to make every rescue story or shelter dog a sad one. Unfortunately this is just how it goes sometimes. Though her story was sad, I’m sure glad she got a chance to leave this earth surrounded by people who loved her, even though we’ve all only known her for such a short time. ❤️🩹🌈
