Flipper Zero You've seen the dolphin. Flipper Zero blew up on TikTok with clips of people flipping TV channels in stores and copying hotel key cards. And behind the cute mascot is a genuinely capable little radio lab. It reads and copies two kinds of access cards: the old low-frequency kind in lots of office badges and fobs, and the newer NFC kind. If it fires infrared, it's a universal remote for almost any TV or air conditioner. "TV". And it listens to the radio band your garage remote lives on, then replays what it hears. But here's where the hype falls apart. Your modern bank card and your encrypted work badge? Flipper mostly can't touch those. Good encryption stops it cold. Where it actually wins is the old "unencrypted" stuff nobody ever upgraded. Think of a gym that's run the same cheap fobs since 2015. Someone brushes past a member in the queue, quietly lifts their fob, and now walks in after hours like they belong there. Flipper doesn't "hack anything". It exposes the lazy, outdated tech still guarding real doors. And if that's the tech on your front door, a forty-dollar tech is the master key. A remote copier. Clever copier.
