Why it worked

The video leverages a direct visual comparison of a product's performance over time, tapping into user frustration and curiosity about perceived quality degradation in AI models.

Summary

The video compares two versions of the AI model GPT Astra, showing a significant decrease in quality and detail from its launch version to its current version. The creator questions if the model has been intentionally nerfed due to this noticeable drop in output.

Structure

1Introduction of the topic: Astra being nerfed
2Visual comparison of Astra at launch vs. now
3Highlighting the decrease in quality and detail
4Creator's commentary on the perceived nerf

Product placement

GPT Astra (ACTS) - An AI model that generates images. Removing it would change the video's topic. OpenAI (APPEARS) - The company that developed GPT Astra. Removing it would not change what happens in the video.

Astra got nerfed? QUALITY ASTRA LAUNCH COMPARED NOW. ASTRA MUTCH

Transcript

Did Astra just get nerfed? I mean, look at the quality of Astra during launch versus compared to now. Astra has way too much for man guys.

Original caption

Astra might have just gotten nerfed 😭 This side-by-side is kind of insane. Same prompt, but the launch version has way more detail, texture, and structure. The current version genuinely looks like someone drew a rougher version of the original. Obviously one comparison doesn’t prove OpenAI intentionally nerfed it, but if this is reproducible across more prompts, that’s a pretty noticeable quality drop.
