SoundTikTok sound · Saxophones getting louder - Sped Up

Why it worked

The video uses a relatable and humorous 'point of view' narrative about a friend's questionable financial decision, leveraging the common experience of gym closures and the absurdity of long-term, future-dated memberships to create engagement.

Summary

The video uses on-screen text to tell a story about a friend who renewed a gym membership for two years, only for the gym to close down shortly after. Despite being warned, the friend then signed up for another five years of membership that doesn't even start until 2027.

Structure

1Friend renews gym membership
2Gym closes down
3Friend signs up for more membership
4Membership starts years later

Product placement

VivoCity True Fitness ACTS - it is a gym that sells memberships, and its closure is the central event of the video. Removing it would change what happens in the video.

On-screen text

POV: Your friend renewed her VivoCity True Fitness membership for 2 years in 2024 for 2025, and they closed down after she renewed. You told her not to pay a lump sum for a gym membership 'cause it's sus, but she still went ahead and signed up for another 5 YEARS of gym membership that only starts in 2027?????
