9 11 proves that the cameraman never dies. The Naudet brothers, I think that's how you pronounce their name, but French filmmakers made a documentary about 9 11 and it's my favorite documentary about 9 11 because it wasn't supposed to be about 9 11. They were making a documentary about rookie firefighters at this department in New York City. And they were just kind of following around the department with cameras for a week and change. The first 20 minutes are just about this fire department and just these guys that work there and the rookies and learning the ropes and blah blah, blah, blah. At one point the French filmmakers decide to make dinner for the whole department, but they don't get enough food to like adequately feed them. And I remember one of the firefighters is like, "You know if we keep eating like this, we'll all be able to share shirts." So there's like a light hearted energy to it. And then 20 minutes into it, 9 11 happens. Which could you imagine being a rookie firefighter and then your first big day on the job is fucking 9 11. So you hear the filmmaker on camera be like, "Hey, can I still come?" And they're like, "Yeah, stay close to me, right?" I think it's like the head of the department and they just fly down to the scene and dude films everything. That's why 90% of the documentaries that you see are the footage that these guys got cause they got everything. He says one of the first things he saw when they got to the towers were people on fire and he had to turn the camera out of respect so that he didn't film them. And it just gets worse from there. He literally follows this one firefighter around like a magnet and I think at one point they're in one of the buildings as it's collapsing, and they just narrowly escape. And it's all fucking on camera. And by no surprise, they survive. Why? Because the cameraman never dies. Happy 9 11. Remember the fallen.
