Here’s how I tone it down. 👀 🏆 How I Tone Down Yellow Gold Hardware 🥂 If gold-tone hardware looks a little too bright or yellow, I use a Magic Eraser very lightly to soften the finish and give it a more natural look. 1. Cut off a small piece of Magic Eraser. 2. Slightly dampen it and squeeze out ALL excess water. 3. Gently rub the hardware using very light pressure. 4. Work slowly and check your progress constantly. 5. Wipe clean with a soft microfiber cloth. 6. Stop as soon as you get the tone you want. ✨ The key is LIGHT pressure. A Magic Eraser is a micro-abrasive, so too much rubbing can permanently remove or scratch plating. I would only do this when intentionally altering a finish, never as routine hardware cleaning.
